Maison de la soie Organic Cosmetics Charter

Maison de la Soie is committed to respecting mankind and the environment by choosing to work with a small, family-run company that formulates and manufactures its products in its laboratory located in South-East France.

Product expertise and knowledge

Cosmetic products must be formulated and produced by a single company which distributes directly to consumers through a single intermediary, Maison de la Soie, in order to better control the entire chain of manufacture, production and distribution of cosmetics sold to consumers.

The raw materials

At least 98.9% of the raw materials used to make cosmetics must be of natural origin. If the product contains non-natural compounds, they must be "nature identical".

10% to 100% of the product must contain organic ingredients.

There must be no petrochemical compounds, silicones or sulfates.

Likewise, there must be no controversial compounds. Each compound present in the formula must have been the subject of precise and recent scientific monitoring before being put on the market. This monitoring must be regularly updated throughout the product's marketing life, to guarantee the product's safety for human health.

The fragrances used must be made exclusively from 100% pure, natural essential oils.

Packaging

Packaging must be biodegradable or recyclable.

The product must not contain unnecessary packaging.

Respect for nature

No tests are carried out on animals, nor on the raw materials used to make our products, nor on the finished products, in accordance with regulations.

The raw materials used must respect nature and the environment.

The short circuit must be favored: intermediaries must be reduced to a minimum to minimize environmental impact.

Respect for people

Products must not contain any controversial compounds that could harm or are suspected of harming human health (e.g. parabens, phenoxyethanol, thiazolinone derivatives, etc.).

Company personnel must be treated with respect and dignity, in a spirit of personal fulfillment (Corporate Social Responsibility).

Consumers must be informed in a clear and transparent manner, and be able to find clear and rapid answers to any questions they may have, including the provision of a simple means of contacting the company.

A transparent, controlled practice

Certificates for the organic raw materials used are available on request.

Good manufacturing practices must be respected. It should be remembered that the Agence Nationale de la Santé et du Médicament (ANSM) (French National Agency for Health and Medicines) may inspect the premises at any time.

Waste management

Waste must be treated and disposed of in a way that respects people and the environment.
